Event Details
The workshop has two objectives:
- Employers to assess and discuss the skills needs in the region and consider how skills mobility frameworks could respond to the skills gaps
- Foster and improve the dialogue and understanding between employers and governments on skills and mobility issues
The workshop is organized in two parts: Employers will share best practices and challenges on accessing and recruiting foreign skills and agree on a set of key policy messages to share with the governments. These messages will be carried over to the dialogue session for discussion between businesses and government.
Part I: Employers-only sessions on
- Skills mobility frameworks that respond to labour market needs
- Improved systems for identification, recognition and development of skills to promote skills mobility
Part II: Dialogue between employers and governments
The topics are aligned with the 2018 Global Compact for Migration (GCM) Objectives 5, 6 and 18, adopted by United Nations members States.
Ultimately, this workshop should provide a platform for exchange between the private sector and governments towards the implementation of the GCM and the Sustainable Development Goals.
